Your website re-launched today. I found out on Twitter via your wife, Vicky. It really hit me hard. Logging in I saw your trademark signature, with static all around, saying “enter.” Do I dare?
I did, and now I regret it. I haven’t looked around too much, but I will at some point. I did look at the merchandise and found a black beanie with your “trademark” signature, a black Christmas ornament with your signature, and an shirt that reads “No One Sings Like You Anymore.”
No SHIT.
Chris, you were never ever a propaganda tool. You were never meant to be a super celebrity, though you played the role very well.
This new website seems so final. Like, you ARE really gone. Until this moment, I’ve been able to sing along, cry, wish, cry some more, but I was still able to pretend. This new internet presence, or lack thereof, hit me (and so many others) so very, very hard. Oh Chris. I wish you could come back. I listen to you everyday. You inspire me so much. The only thing I know to do is to keep writing, to keep the promise, so to speak. I know I promised you – in person- that I would always be a real fan, and I intend to keep my word.
Thank you Chris for everything you gave us; your voice, your words, your promise. Thank you for caring about the world and our future. I love you!!!!!
