Dear Chris,

I don’t have MTV anymore. Thinking back, I realize that’s how I probably discovered you long ago, probably on Headbangers Ball. Well, as you probably realized, MTV started sucking pretty badly recently. I think it all started with the Real World. I’m NOT a TV historian, so I’m just projecting my thoughts.

The 2017 MTV Video Music Awards aired tonight, and from what I’m hearing they only very briefly mentioned you. Well, I’m here to say that you (and Soundgarden) deserve so much more than a mention. You deserve everything – like your own fucking documentary, Hall of Fame induction – anything. You and your guys – Matt, Ben and Kim – are brilliant musicians. You all are worth so much more than one sentence. I know I’m not the only person who feels this way. Chris, my heart hurts knowing that people have discarded you and your voice.

Just know that I have NOT. I remember and value you, always. Until the end of my days I will appreciate the gifts you and Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog, Audioslave gave to the world. Your music means the world to me. I told you this last year – so closely. And I believe you heard. Thank you for your talents.
