Should’ve stayed, were there signs, I ignored?
Can I help you, not to hurt, anymore?
We saw brilliance, when the world, was asleep
There are things that we can have, but can’t keep

One year ago today, on a cool summer night in Saskatchewan, I sat directly in front of you. You’d met countless fans, you were late to your show, but you took the time to sit down with me. You did not seem anxious. You glowed. Your voice was soft and we talked. It was awkward in an awesome way. It was my final time seeing you on the Higher Truth tour. So magical. I breathed it all in. I breathed YOU in when you leaned way down to give me that final hug.

“I’m a real fan, loyal until the end, Chris,” I told you up close. “You’re music means everything to me, everything.”

God, I’m so grateful I had that moment with you. Just two passing souls in this world of so many. So glad I told you what you mean to me and gave you my handwritten letter. Did you read it? I’ve always wondered that. My one regret is that I put it inside the frame. Naw, I don’t have any regrets. Because I met YOU! Thank you, Chris. Loud Love from Earth. Your music and spirit lives on inside your children and fans.
